Take the US70 and head for Idaho Springs. Take Chicago Creek Rd and follow the 15 miles or so of no barrier, switch back mountain roads to the summit of Mt Evans. At 14,130ft above sea level it's the highest paved road in Northern America.

Georgetown is about an hour west of Denver on the I70 and is a former silver mining camp along Clear Creek in the Rocky Mountains. Famous for its Georgetown Loop steam railroad, climbing around the sides of the Rocky mountains to the neighbouring town of Silver Plume.

Common sense would see us using the I25 north then the I80 west to get to our next stop in Salt Lake City. The I70 is a much more picturesque route however, winding its way through the Rocky Mountains.
