| The scuttle was bolted in place so I could line up the bonnet to fit the nosecone. This will have to be removed so that I can make up the dashboard etc. This is fitted by placing it 255mm from the front of the battery tray, drilling 4 x 8mm holes in the chassis and bolting it on. | |
| With the scuttle fixed and the bonnet placed loosely on top the nose cone can be positioned. | |
| I have no idea how the nose is supposed to fit. It is too wide for the chassis where it meets the bonnet and not wide enough by the radiator. In the end I fitted 2 x M6 rivnuts in the top chassis rail and dropped 2 M6 bolts through the nosecone and sort of 'pulled' the nose into shape and left it like that for the time being! It will need to fixed at the bottom when I have sanded the edges and fitted the grille. | |
| The time has come to finally fit the rear end.... | |
| Both sides of the rear end are fitted to the side panel with a length of 'p' trim and then riveted. | |
| The rear end needs some kind of fixing at the bottom. I decided to make up 2 bars to bolt the the lower lip of the fibre glass and then mount to the chassis | |
| The n/s one fitted. | |
| Didn't like the Tiger supplied front grille, so here's one I made earlier... Some bling bling gold mesh from good old B&Q, I think it goes quite well with the black. |
|
| Made a small panel up from plywood and covered it in vinyl to fill the gap above the fuel tank. | |
| I had to remove the master cylinder, clutch cable, and accelerator cable to enable me to fit the pedal box cover. There wasn't any way of joining it to the scuttle so I bent up a piece of ali and riveted it on. | |
| Next to be fitted was the Stoneguards on the rear arches. | |
| This shows the n/s one in place. | |
| A tip I got from the Chester Sports cars was to fit U trim to the edge of the bonnet rather than the scuttle and nose cone. This not only makes the bonnet look tidier but it also saves the edges when you take it off and stand it up. | |
| Another tip, the Tiger supplied bonnet catches fail the SVA. £16 well spent then on these rubber ones. | |
| Simply Rivet in place and Mr SVA is happy. | |
| The front ones are slightly less attractive though. | |
| Another tip from Chester Sports Cars. The fibreglass of the dash was bowed outwards on my scuttle. Simply drill a couple of holes and pull it back into line with cable ties. | |
| The nosecone had not been secured at the bottom, so whilst I had the car in the air I riveted a small ali panel between the bottom of the nose cone and the lower chassis rail. This holds everything in place. | |
| Next job was to fit the front cycle wings. The tiger supplied brackets need a little 'persuading' to fit. I drilled a 10mm hole in them, bolted them in place and used my jack handle to bend them into the correct shape. | |
| This shows them both fitted. They will need to be removed later to be made SVA friendly, i.e radiused, and then treated to a coat of paint. | |
| I am fitting the wings with 2 M8 coach bolts, I will then glass fibre the wings to the stays for extra strength. | |
| One side bolted in place. | |
| I have taken the front wing stays off to give them a coat of paint. I decided that before I paint them I will radius all the edges and make them look, well, slightly less agricultural! | |
| Once all the edges were filed down I gave them a few coats of smoothrite. | |
| The Tiger supplied bonnet clips wont pass the SVA test. To make them SVA friendly I just covered them with some heater hose, hiding all the sharp edges. This of course will probably fall off on the way back from the test.... | |
