Heater Mods

The VX Heater is notoriously crap - mine had no heat and the hot cold control didn't work. Once apart I could see the control lever had come unattached from the control rod.

This is the standard heater matrix - the unit is very small and there is gaps all around it. This allows the air to pass around the heater matrix rather than through it.

This is a heater matrix from a Fiat Punto. It fits the VX heater box perfectly and is twice the size of the standard heater matrix. The size of means that all of the air will flow through it.

I now have no hot/cold air control flap so I have to blank off half the air entry hole using a small ally strip.

This shows the blanking plate in place with the other half of the heater box temporarily fitted.

The pipes for the new heater matrix now come out in a slightly different place so the old top cover will need modifying.

I made another ally plate to deflect the air and to ensure there are no gaps.

I then made another small plate to seal the inlet and outlet pipes to ensure no air can escape.

Using the old top inlet cover I blanked off the 2 holes where the old pipes used to be.

And then riveted it all back together. Now I have loads of heat!
