| Ftted the gear lever boot and handbrake boot with good old duct tape! | |
| Dashboard template made up from cardboard. The rules of the SVA say that if the dash is padded then the edges must have a 2.5mm (I think..) radius on them, if the dash is hard (like mine is going to be) then the radius has to be 19mm. | |
| I will cut the dash from 5mm ply, and glue extra wood the lower part of the dash at the back so I can achieve my 19mm radius. When its done it will hopefully be covered in either carbon fibre look film, or vinyl. | |
| Made a small panel up from plywood and covered it in vinyl to fill the gap above the fuel tank. | |
| I have also spent a few evenings making the dashboard. I have all the cut outs for the instruments now. (52mm for the oil, temp, and fuel and 80mm for the speedo and tacho) The 4 std Tiger switches will be fitted in the lower section of the dash, with the Honda S2000 push button start & the cat 2 immobiliser touch key fitted between the speedo and tacho. | |
| Drivers seat bolted in place. I went for the adjustable drivers seat which makes the fitting a lot easier as it sits on runners. 4 x 8mm holes and the seat drops in place. | |
| I am going to send the dash off to Graham at Chester Sports Cars who is going to get it trimmed professionally. I cut the holes for the switches and filed all the sharp edges off in readiness. | |
| Another tip from Chester Sports Cars. The fibreglass of the dash was bowed outwards on my scuttle. Simply drill a couple of holes and pull it back into line with cable ties. | |
| The speedo and tacho will
hold the dash pad in place when it is trimmed and fitted. I
have roughly (ok, very roughly) cut the holes in the scuttle
panel. Mmmm, push button start.... |
|
| The n/s seat belt mounting.
The SVA manual says the bolts must be at least 11mm diameter
and at least 8.8 TL. These are M12 x 80mm with a tensile load of 8.8 |
|
| Once I got my dash and other trim parts back from Chester Sports Cars I decided the dash was the first thing to fit. This shot shows the 6 warning lights fitted. | |
| The dash will be held in place mainly by the speedo and tacho which are clamped from behind the fibreglass of the scuttle . | |
| The blokey who does the trimming for Chester did a really good job with the dash and I think it looks the mutts... | |
